Company Introduction

Sample Storage systems was formed in 1982 in Adelaide, South Australia, and at the request of a local oil company, designed a permanent storage and library reference system for oilfield drilling samples. A packing system was also needed to keep the samples together. The system was packaged to handle an average sampling requirement for an 8000 feet oil or gas exploration well. The small tray version consists of 102 sample trays or 510 samples and plywood storage box.
The system was designed to overcome several problems in sample collection and storage. The thin plastic and paper envelopes previously used were found to be non transparent for viewing purposes, often split, were lost and were frequently too bulky for efficient storage and easy access for in house geological reviews.
The sample trays you see address these problems. The trays are manufactured in a plastic called G. P. Styrene, which has excellent clarity for microscopic examination and fluorescence in oilfield samples can be reliably seen under ultraviolet light. The trays are easily stackable, reasonably strong and will stand up over long storage periods, which is a definite improvement on paper and plastic envelopes proven to have very short shelf lives
